Romantic Dinner at Manila Bay with Travelbook

I’ve always been longing for sea breeze since we moved to Cavite. When I was at Davao, I can afford to go to the beach every week because it’s a jeepney and one boat ride ahead. But since moving to Manila, it’s been hard. Thank God for Travelbook!

I know Batangas is not far from us but having a baby, and adjusting to my environment, I’m not ready to travel to Batangas just yet. Imagine all the preparation for that beach escapade I was longing for. It’s a hassle. If only I can have some quiet time with Tee somewhere near the bay, that would be awesome and would be very beneficial for me.

Our 3rd year Anniversary is coming up with no plans at hand. Then, we were given this incredible opportunity to have dinner for two at the Manila Bay Cruise. For living in Cavite for 2 years now, I was thrilled to finally get some chill and have a stress-free night just within Manila Bay.

We tried to book for a weekend schedule but they’re loaded on a Saturday,  so we decided to go on a Wednesday instead. Less traffic, and probably fewer people so we can truly enjoy the ride.

This post is in collaboration with All opinions expressed are mine.

We left Cavite by 3:30 PM because I wanted to have ample time to take photos. The check-in counter opens at 5:00 PM and closes at 5:30 PM, but the boarding time would be around 5:40 PM.

There were two schedules for sailing: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. I would highly recommend the 6:00 PM schedule for you to appreciate the beauty of the sunset.

The Sun Cruises Terminal is located at One Esplanade, Seaside Terminal, Seaside Blvd., MOA Complex, Pasay City.

Once we arrived, we handed over our e-voucher at the counter and was asked if we have a Valid ID to confirm the reservation. They gave us a sticker to be placed on our chest or somewhere visible.

By the way, we paid 30 pesos per person for the Terminal Fee.

We had enough time to take photos of the beautiful baywalk and standing there, it was breathtaking. For the record, Manila Bay has been rehabilitated, so you can now enjoy the fresh air coming from the ocean. No stinky smell or whatsoever. The thing is, there’s not enough shade to protect you from the afternoon sunlight if you wish to walk along the bay. Well of course, we went there for the cruise and not for the baywalk but it would’ve been nice. *wink*

There are two decks on which you can choose but was kind enough to reserve us on the upper deck in Table #2 and as expected on a weekday trip, only a few people were aboard, and only 4 tables were used.

The table setting and chairs are the usual. Nothing spectacular, in my honest opinion, they can upgrade the setting (tables and chair) to a more elegant feel and of course to match the “cruise” theme.

By 6:00, the cruise sailed away from the dock and we were able to witness the spectacular sunset at this golden hour. The water was calm and the weather was in favor of us so we did not experience any trouble.

As soon as the cruise moves subtly moves away from the city, the ambiance dramatically transformed. The romantic music, cool wind, the soft night lights and made me feel like I wasn’t living in a busy city after all.

By 6:15, the buffet dinner at the lower dock has been served. There were 3 main courses (fish, beef, and chicken), a salad, soup, pasta (spaghetti), banana crepe for dessert and one glass of Iced Tea. The food was fine but not particularly interesting. I think they can work on that.

We were also served a glass of wine, Tee had red and I had white. It’s a good addition for the trip though, but do not expect this to be something out of the ordinary because, well, it isn’t.

Through sailing for an hour and a half, we were serenaded with love songs and acoustics which made it more romantic. Then we headed back to the port as to end the short voyage.

It was a wonderful experience and I was glad we made the time to be there. I would also want to emphasize how polite and helpful the crew was. They would gladly help you with whatever you need, from picture-taking to an extra glass of water.

Through the entire dinner cruise escapade, you’d be able to appreciate how incredibly wonderful Manila is, gazing at it from afar. It is also a great experience to offer to tourists and would probably help shift their concept of what Manila is. That despite the crowd, the traffic and the air, there’s still a place to unwind, relax and give yourself a break.

  1. Hi Sza! This looks like an awesome experience and perfect for a chill date. How much did it all cost? And how is the area? Was it crowded when you came? Thanks!
